If you notice a change in the pressure of the water coming out of your showerheads there is no need to run out and buy a new one yet. It could just need a good cleaning. So if you’re itching for a do it yourself project we have the perfect project for you.
Here are some simple steps to clean your showerhead:
What you will need: 1/3 cup baking soda, 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 plastic bag and 1 large bag twist tie.
Step 1: Mix baking soda and vinegar into a large plastic freezer bag.
Note: Do this over a sink and poor vinegar into the mix slowly to avoid spilling rising solution.
Step 2: Place bag over showerhead (still attached to shower). Make sure it is completely saturated with the baking soda/vinegar solution.
Step 3: Secure bag in place with a twist tie (you can further secure it with a large rubber band to help keep the bags placement).
Step 4: Let the showerhead soak into the solution for at least 3 hours. For an ideal outcome, let the showerhead soak over night and remove the bag in the morning.
Step 5: Use a cup to rinse showerhead clean of the solution with water. Make sure that the showerhead is wiped clean before use. To ensure that your showerhead is clean of the solution, let the shower run hot for 2 minutes.
In most cases, your shower water should have more pressure and flow much better.

The cool weather is still here and the last thing you want on Valentines Day is cold feet. Here are a few tips to ensure that your furnace it is being properly maintained.
If you are having trouble with your furnace:
• Make sure that your unit is properly connected to a power outlet. Keep in mind, some furnaces have separate power entrances and some have fuses mounted in or on the unit.
• Reset your unit if you are able to, wait 30 minutes to let the motor cool and then repeat reset steps at least 2 more times.
• Make sure that your thermostat is properly set. If necessary, raise the setting 5 degrees (or lower for a/c).
• If your unit uses gas, check to make sure that the gas supply is turned on and the pilot light is lit if your unit uses gas. If it runs on oil, make sure that you have an adequate supply.
When conducting any of these checks be sure to:
• Make sure that your unit is turned off before beginning any inspection.
• If you notice that you are having electrical problems call a professional.
• Evacuate the house and call the gas company or fire department if you smell gas in your home. Do not tamper with the furnace, attempt to shut it off or reenter your home at any time.
To keep your furnace running at peak performance make sure that it is annually inspected as recommended by the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you have any problems before then, go through this checklist while keeping in mind the important safety steps provided. Having a professional annual inspection will also ensure that your furnace is not leaking any dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, which can happen in result of an old or insufficient furnace.

It is important to understand just how serious choosing a plumbing, heating and cooling company is. In recent news, a family was hospitalized from a carbon monoxide leak because of a water heater that was improperly fixed. * This is a real risk when you don’t research the company that you hire to maintenance your home.
Here are a few things that you should look for when you hire a plumbing, heating and cooling company:
1. Make sure that your plumbing, heating and cooling company has the right permits and insurance licenses. If they don’t, you may be liable for damages that they cause to your home or injuries that a technician might have on your property.

We all want to be financially prudent and every new year we set financial goals for ourselves and try to seek new ways to get the most value for our dollar. By regularly maintaining appliances and utilities systems in your home, you can extend the life of these home systems and ultimately save money.
As we welcome the new year, there are a few maintenance tips that can help you maintain your home and save money more efficiently:
Water Heating: Safety check, drain and flush your water heater annually. This will remove tank sediment, which can reduce your energy costs and prolong the life of your water heater.
Air Conditioning: Change your filters regularly. Dirty filters reduce airflow and efficiency, raising your energy costs.
Drains: Never pour grease down the drain, and make sure your drains have screens. By regularly using a natural drain system treatment, you can restore the flow of your drains, prevent foul odors and prevent unexpected stoppages.
These are just a few basic tips that can dramatically improve the life of your major home appliances and utilities. They don’t take a lot of time, and they will save you time and money in 2012.

It’s that time a year again, the time when you make promises to yourself that you plan to uphold throughout the coming year. Unfortunately, many of these promises usually get broken before year’s end. We’re talking about New Year’s resolutions. This year, we can help you to maintain one resolution: improving the comfort of your home for you and your family.
The following are a few of our most important services offered during the winter months that you may want to consider to improve your home:
Furnace Tune-Up and Repair
Heat Pump Tune-Up and Repair
Installation and Testing of Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Filtration System Installation and Tune-Up
Air Cleaner Installation and Tune-Up
Humidification System Installation and Tune-Up
Thermostat Installation and Replacement
If your home is too warm, too cold or different rooms in your home are different temperatures, we can fix it! Imagine every room in your house having even temperature. A tune-up by itself may or may not solve this issue, but it will definitely make your system more efficient and save you money on utility bills. In fact, you will save more in utilities than you will spend with us.
Do you suffer from skin irritation or static electricity, or find it difficult to breath during the winter months? Are you prone to respiratory infections? Your home could actually be the cause. A little known fact is that the quality of the air in your home is generally much worse than the air outdoors.
Installing a filtration system or an air cleaner could minimize the effects of indoor contaminants. Also, installing a home humidifier will help keep the relative humidity in your home at a comfortable level, and protect your family from the negative effects of dry air.
