Your air conditioner has had a lot of work to do this summer and we still have more hot weather to go. Just because the date on the calendar has moved over to fall doesn't mean you're finished with your air conditioner for the season. Staying up with annual HVAC maintenance, while also following a couple other tips, can help maintain your air conditioner while remaining cozy.

Clean Around Your Outdoor Unit

Debris can accumulate around your outside unit, especially during the fall. When it comes time to rake up leaves, make sure to rake around the air conditioner. Debris can impact air flow, causing your system to work harder and wear down faster.

Raise the Temperature on Your Thermostat

Have your thermostat set at the highest temperature you can while still staying comfortable. Whenever possible, utilize additional cooling methods such as fans. The lower you set your thermostat, the harder your system will have to work to maintain that temperature.

Keep Up with AC Maintenance

Keeping a well-maintained system with regular, annual air conditioning maintenance is also essential. Make sure your ac is checked over thoroughly, make sure the coils and filters are clean and the electric is working as it should.
